Understanding your body can help identify opportunities to improve how you move, strengthen your muscles and correct issues before they lead to pain or injury. 

Injury prevention isn’t just for elite dancers and athletes. Anyone who enjoys movement or wants to correct known issues — like poor postural habits — can benefit from preventive physiotherapy.

Preventative physiotherapy may include…

  • Detailed injury prevention physiotherapy assessment (looking at your posture, body mechanics, strength, flexibility and more through the lens of your chosen activities and lifestyle goals)

  • Customized physiotherapy education, exercises, recommendations and other treatments aimed at proactively addressing any opportunities found in the assessment

When would someone need preventative physiotherapy?

If enrolled in elite dance or sports.

When your quality of life is tied to specific physical activities.

If dance or sports training is going to be intensifying in the next 4–12 months.

During pregnancy.

After sudden lifestyle changes (from passive to active, or very active to less active).

When teachers or coaches give the same technique corrections with little change realized to date.

When there is a known physical limitation (such as poor posture, flexibility, balance, strength, or technique) but not yet any pain.

In-person preventative physiotherapy sessions are held in Oakville, ON. Virtual preventative physiotherapy is available to residents of Ontario who can't meet in person for any reason (permanent or temporary).
